The sad part is that, although this ad is meant as a joke, churches have been doing this sort of thing for decades now. It is the attractional method. Come to our church and get some Starbucks coffee and Krispy Kreme doughnuts. I even remember one from years ago that offered a free oil change coupon. It is as if we sometimes feel that God is not powerful enough. We need to help him out a bit with some good marketing.
We look up at God and say, "Now God, you just don't know the people around here. They will never go for just the Bible. You have to give 'em something. Don't worry big guy, I'll take care of it."
Lord, have mercy on all us sinners.
