On the "pro" side, at least this image seems to have a face. Most of these apparitions are just a rounded cone shape.
On the "con" side, if I were the Virgin Mary, I'd be pretty offended at the poorly done portrayal of me.
Seriously, though, every time one of these things comes up, I am saddened that people will gladly put devotion and faith into some random shape, but not take the time to learn more about the true Lord, from easily obtained copies of the Bible, translated into so many languages. No pilgrimage required!
It probably doesn't help that when someone does find something they end up on the evening news. Everybody likes a little attention.
I couldn't view the video, but I found an article online that stated, "Alvaraz says it's a sign that people need to be nicer to each other."
I agree with Steve. Faith in this salsa apparition produced a false conclusion. If the salsa is telling us that we "need to be nicer to each other", then why did Mary's firstborn die on the cross and rise again?..
And I was a little sad to see the image covered with plexiglass. Perfectly edible salsa trapped in a plastic prison!
