NORMAL SEXUALITY?

I know, I know.... even the very mention of anything "normal" combined with the word "sexuality" is almost unheard of today. After all, to think in such terms is seen as being puritanical, and repressed (even, dare I say the dreaded F word: Fundamentalist....AAHHHHHHH!). No, no, no, sexuality is something flexible (Kinsey) and unpredictable, based on what one's passions drive them to do next. As a matter of fact, many have been saying for quite some time, the truly healthy person is the person who just lets loose sexually, without any thought for what may be "appropriate" (there's another word that implies a standard and is therefore anathema).

This philosophy is really nothing new: The oldest religions always had devious sexual encounters as part of their fertility rights. King David and Solomon had thousands of different women in their harems. Out of Greece came the philosophy of Hedonism (Aristippus, 435-355 B.C.) which simply taught that the only truly good thing in life was pleasure and the avoidance of pain. Sexual Immorality has always been around and will always be around, so this isn't a "thinking about the good old days when people were pure" kind of writing. Rather, this is a discussion about what the Bible says the proper sexuality is. To answer that question, I'm going to spend the next week going over the topic. First, we'll begin tomorrow with a brief discussion of what's considered improper and why. Next, we'll move on to what proper sexuality is and finally, we'll deal with how this is actually lived out in the life of the Christian. Before tomorrow, let me close with this:

1 Corinthians 6:18-20- 18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Soli Deo Gloria,

Pastor Erick
